Crossroads: Transforming Uncertainty
The Rail Trail Project
These vibrant art pieces pay homage to the village origins in the context of today’s realities and honor Voorheesville at a crossroads in history. The layering of hand-painted, illuminated components in trees or free-standing structures installed at intervals along the Rail Trail, lends beauty, meaning, and joy during challenging times.
Lifting the spirits of trail users, Susan’s use of symbolic and historic images embodies the cycles of life, metamorphosis, and renewal, helping us positively transform the uncertain conditions of our time.

Public Testimonials
“It was a pleasure to walk on the Albany rail trail near Voorheesville and view your art installation. What a joy. I loved the art work as well as the poetry and writings that you put on it. It made the trail feel joyous and uplifting above and beyond the beauty of nature.”
“I had a chance to see your exhibit today. It was so fun and uplifting to experience it during this time. When I read what you had written on some of your installations, I won-dered if you had made it during COVID. There were so many works, it's hard to imagine that you got them done so quickly. Again, thanks for something beautiful and life-affirming when we need it most.”
“So I rode out there today. LOVED the artwork...”
“Interesting artwork can add to the experience. These pathways travel through many communities and are not specifically hidden gems deep in the forest. At some points, yes, but at others, they are just part of the built environment, and artwork adds to the journey.”
